The University of Leicester was founded in 1921 and is one of the top universities in the UK. The site for the University was donated by Thomas Fielding Johnson, a local businessman. He did this to create a living memorial for all the local people who made sacrifices during the First World War. This is reflected in their motto – “so that they may have life”.

They provide numerous undergraduate and postgraduate programs. The university is situated in the heart of Leicester.
