About

Wigan & Leigh College was established in 1857 and is the only further education college in the towns of Leigh and Wigan. Every year, more than 14,000 people decide to study at the college. Wigan & Leigh College operates on several sites across the borough. Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts, and Pagefield Centre are situated in Wigan in close proximity to the town centre. Leigh College and The Image Centre are near the town centre in Leigh. The college provides a plethora of programs for all levels including A-Level programs, apprenticeships, and higher education courses. Some of their programs are full-time and others part-time also. They recently received a multi-million-pound investment which has allowed them to ensure the campus has top-of-the-range resources, facilities, and learning environments. The college also has strong links with local employers which means great work experience opportunities for its students.

Types of Programs They Run

Wigan & Leigh College has several programs to choose from including apprenticeships, A-Level courses, and higher education programs. They cover a diverse range of topics including animal management, carpentry and joinery, construction, IT and digital skills, early years education, childcare, business, beauty, baking, art and design, fashion, engineering, horticulture, health, hairdressing, music, performing arts, motor vehicles, media, tourism, sport, science and more.

Admissions Process

To apply for any course at Wigan & Leigh College, all you need to do is visit the college’s website. Once here, navigate to the webpage of your chosen course and scroll down until you see the apply button. Then, click this and you will be automatically redirected to an online application form to fill out. Once you have filled it out and submitted it, the college’s admissions team will review it and revert back to you. This can take a few weeks.
